Lagos

Lagos town was the capital of the Algarve for over 200 years and played an important part in Portugal's naval history. Lagos is renowned for the historic walled town with its maze of cobbled streets, its stylish boutiques, restaurants and cafes. The marina and its approach have recently undergone a modernisation and restoration project by the local council.

Whilst staying in Lagos take a day trip to Alvor, Sagres or Luz. Lagos and its surrounding area offers fantastic photo opportunities.

Coast/Beach

We believe that the Western Algarve is one of Europe's most attractive and congenial holiday destinations. Few areas are over-developed and the coastline, with its golden beaches, is simply magical - mile after mile of it remains completely unspoilt.

Just a few miles inland you are in a time warp - the roads are greatly improved but otherwise life is much as it has been for centuries.

Nature puts on a magnificent show all year round, with unique plants and trees ensuring that the landscape remains green throughout the year. Many birds spend the winter or summer here and many others pass through on migration routes.

Activities

The Algarve is host to a whole array of leisure activities and is one of Europe's foremost golfing destinations with over thirty five courses mostly reachable within the hour from Lagos. Local courses include Boavista, Parque da Floresta, Penina and the recently redesigned Onyira Palmares. Tennis, horse riding, jeep safaris, dolphin watching, surfing, water skiing, boating trips around the sea caves and big game fishing make up just some of the other activities available in the area.
